I have personal and clinical experience in sports psychology.
I work with high level and professional athletes who must perform to their highest ability even while amidst anxiety and depression. For some, support the athletic performance through strategies to manipulate thought patterns to improve focus and strength during competition. Treatment of athletes, and especially athletes overcoming injury, requires a specialty in this area because of the complexity of the demands on this person and one’s identity as a high level athlete.
My clinical work with athletes is informed by my own personal athletic history as a member of the USA Fencing team for the 17 year old age group (top 3 fencers in the country under the age of 17), and 4 time US team champion. The many athletic experiences I confronted during this pursuit has provided me with a deep appreciation for the delicate balance athletes must strike in navigating the demands of their personal and professional lives.
